The Samsung INR21700-50S is a high-power lithium-ion cell developed for protected power-tool battery systems. It combines 5000mAh typical capacity with 25A continuous discharge without temperature cutoff or up to 45A when active 80°C cell-surface protection is provided. Rated 6A charging, low initial impedance and two high-current cycle tests support demanding professionally engineered battery packs.
Standard discharge capacity is 5000mAh typical, with production dispersion allowing a minimum of 4900mAh under the 1A test. Rated capacity is at least 4800mAh when discharged at 10A. At 3.6V nominal voltage, the typical capacity represents approximately 18Wh of calculated nominal energy per cell.
The cell supports 25A continuous discharge without a temperature cutoff. The higher 45A operating condition requires the pack to monitor cell-surface temperature and interrupt discharge at 80°C. Cooling, cell matching, busbar resistance, airflow and sensor placement must be validated for the actual pack geometry and load profile.
Standard charging uses 2.5A CC-CV current to 4.20V with a 250mA termination current. Rated charging uses 6A with a 100mA cutoff and an indicated charging time of approximately 100 minutes. A separate 10A step-charge ceiling is listed, but its detailed step profile is not provided in the specification.
Initial internal impedance is specified at no more than 14mΩ using AC 1kHz measurement after rated charging. Manufacturer testing reports 95% relative capacity at 15A and 20A and 93% at 30A, compared with the defined 10A reference capacity under the specified temperature and cutoff conditions.
The 25A discharge test requires at least 2940mAh after 250 cycles. A separate 45A test requires the same capacity after 100 cycles, using an 80°C cutoff and restart below 50°C. Both tests use 6A charging to 4.20V and discharge to the 2.50V endpoint at room temperature.
The sleeved cell measures up to 21.25mm in diameter and 70.62mm in height, with maximum weight of 72g. Samsung requires cell-block voltage monitoring, overcurrent and overtemperature warnings, secondary protection, mechanical shock control and spacing above 1mm. Damaged sleeves or distorted cells must be rejected before pack assembly.
Custom battery pack applications: Subject to engineering validation, the Samsung INR21700-50S can support cordless power tools, garden equipment, commercial cleaning machines, robotics and other high-power industrial battery systems. It is not intended for individual consumer handling or vape/e-cigarette devices. MisenBattery supplies Samsung cells and supports custom pack integration with a suitable BMS, fuse, welded interconnects, temperature sensing, electrical insulation, cell spacing, and application-specific thermal and mechanical design. Supporting CE, UN38.3, RoHS and UL documentation can be provided when available for the applicable cell, completed battery pack and shipment.
