The Panasonic NCR18650BD is a 3.6V cylindrical lithium-ion cell developed for protected pedelec battery packs. It combines 3180mAh typical capacity with a specified maximum continuous discharge current of 10A under defined temperature conditions. Its documented CC-CV charging profile, internal-resistance limit, cycle test and detailed pack-design precautions give battery engineers practical parameters for professionally controlled electric power-assisted bicycle systems.
Panasonic specifies 3180mAh typical and 3080mAh minimum capacity when discharged at 0.61A and 25°C to the 2.50V endpoint. A separate rated-capacity value of 3000mAh is stated at 20°C. Preserving these temperature and test-condition distinctions supports realistic runtime estimates and incoming-cell acceptance criteria.
The specified maximum continuous discharge current is 10A per cell from 0°C to +40°C. The cell surface must remain below 70°C, and Panasonic notes that high-rate or high-temperature discharge shortens battery life. Final pack current should therefore reflect cooling, cell matching, interconnect resistance and protection-circuit limits.
Standard charging uses a 0.9A constant-current, constant-voltage process at 4.20V, with an eight-hour test duration at 25°C. The nominal-specification table lists 1.5A as the maximum charge current. The charger must provide full-charge detection, pre-charge control for deeply discharged cells and no continuous trickle charging.
The cell’s internal resistance is specified below 35mΩ using AC impedance measurement at 1kHz. This defined limit helps engineers evaluate voltage drop, heat generation and parallel-group matching. Actual production-pack performance still depends on cell state of charge, temperature, aging, welded interconnects and the resistance of the completed electrical path.
The specification defines a 300-cycle evaluation at 25°C using 0.9A CC-CV charging to 4.20V and 3.08A discharge to 2.50V. After cycling, the acceptance criterion is more than 38 minutes of discharge under the stated 3.08A test. This condition should remain attached to any cycle-life reference.
The dimension drawing indicates a maximum diameter of approximately 18.5mm and maximum height of 65.3mm, with cell weight below 49g. Panasonic requires matched cell ranks, series-cell voltage differences within 20mV, spot-welded lead plates and inspection of voltage, impedance, protection functions, thermistor resistance and thermal fuse before pack shipment.
Custom battery pack applications: The supplied specification supports professionally engineered pedelec and electric power-assisted bicycle battery packs; it does not approve the cell for road EV, HEV or electric-motorcycle systems. MisenBattery supplies Panasonic cells and supports custom pack integration with an appropriately rated BMS, fuse, welded interconnects, temperature sensing, electrical insulation, cell spacing, and application-specific thermal and mechanical protection. Supporting CE, UN38.3, RoHS and UL documentation can be provided when available for the applicable cell, completed pack and shipment. Confirm current cell availability, specification revision and Panasonic application approval before production.
