The LG Chem 18650 HE4 is a high-current rechargeable lithium-ion cell developed for power-tool applications. It combines 2500mAh nominal capacity, 3.60V nominal voltage and a manufacturer-specified 20A continuous discharge limit. Its low initial AC impedance and established 18650 dimensions make it suitable for professionally engineered battery packs requiring a balance of compact energy storage and sustained current output.
The HE4 provides 2500mAh nominal capacity under LG Chem’s standard charge and discharge conditions. Its 3.60V nominal voltage produces approximately 9.0Wh of calculated nominal energy per cell, providing a practical combination of runtime and current capability for compact high-power battery assemblies.
LG Chem specifies a maximum continuous discharge current of 20A with a 2.50V discharge cut-off. This supports demanding power-tool and industrial-pack loads when adequate electrical connections, cell matching, cooling and current derating are incorporated into the battery design.
Standard charging uses 1250mA constant current followed by 4.20V constant-voltage charging and a 50mA termination current. The fast-charge condition uses 4000mA with a 100mA termination current. Pack chargers must remain within the specified voltage, current and temperature boundaries.
The specification lists initial AC impedance at no more than 20mΩ without PTC, measured at 1kHz after standard charging. Low impedance helps reduce voltage drop and internal heating, but pack performance still depends on cell consistency, busbar resistance, weld quality, airflow and operating temperature.
Under the manufacturer’s fast-charge and discharge conditions, the HE4 carries a remaining-capacity criterion of at least 60% after 300 cycles at 10A or 200 cycles at 20A. Actual service life varies with charge rate, depth of discharge, temperature, cooling and pack-level current sharing.
The yellow-sleeved, flat-top cylindrical cell has an 18.5mm maximum diameter, 65.2mm maximum height and 47g maximum weight. It is intended for professional pack assembly rather than direct consumer use. LG Chem prohibits direct soldering, mixed cell types, mixed manufacturers and damaged cells in the same pack.
Custom battery pack applications: Appropriate applications include cordless power tools, professional cleaning equipment, portable industrial machinery and other high-current battery systems whose electrical and thermal demands have been validated. MisenBattery supplies LG Chem cells and supports custom pack integration using a compatible BMS, fuse protection, welded interconnects, voltage and temperature sensing, cell insulation, safe spacing, and suitable thermal and mechanical design. Supporting CE, UN38.3, RoHS and UL documentation can be provided for the applicable product and shipment.
