The TENPOWER INR21700-50XG is a high-power 21700 lithium-ion cell combining 5000mAh nominal capacity with 40A continuous discharge without a temperature cutoff. The manufacturer also specifies 90A operation with a mandatory 75°C cutoff and a 140A pulse lasting three seconds. With 15A maximum charging and low AC impedance, it is designed for professionally engineered packs requiring controlled high-current performance.
The cell provides 5000mAh nominal and 4950mAh minimum capacity when tested using a 2.5A CC-CV charge and 1A discharge to 2.5V. At 3.6V nominal voltage, this corresponds to approximately 18.0Wh per cell for energy- and power-focused pack designs.
TENPOWER specifies 40A as the maximum continuous-discharge current without a temperature cutoff. The document additionally permits discharge up to 90A only when pack controls stop operation as the cell reaches 75°C. Current, voltage and temperature monitoring are essential when using either high-current condition.
For brief peak-power requirements, the manufacturer specifies a 140A pulse-discharge current lasting three seconds. This is a time-limited rating rather than a continuous operating current. Pack design must control pulse duration, repetition, voltage sag and cell temperature within validated system limits.
Standard charging uses 2.5A constant current followed by constant voltage at 4.20V, ending at 100mA. A maximum charge current of 15A is specified for faster charging. The charger must monitor voltage, current, time and temperature and must never allow cell voltage to exceed 4.25V.
AC internal impedance is specified at no more than 4mΩ at 1kHz, 25±3°C and 30% SOC. In the manufacturer’s rate test, relative capacity remains 93% at 40A and 92% at 50A. Its -20°C test reports 90% relative capacity during a 30A discharge.
The documented cycle test uses a 6A charge and 40A discharge, with discharge ending at 2.5V or a 75°C temperature cutoff. After 500 cycles, capacity must remain at least 60% of the initial value. Actual service life depends on current, temperature, depth of discharge and pack cooling.
