The Molicel INR-21700-M50A is an energy-focused 21700 rechargeable lithium-ion cell offering 5000mAh typical capacity and 18Wh typical energy. Its specified 15A continuous discharge capability, high published energy density and broad discharge-temperature range support professionally engineered mobility, portable-power and industrial battery packs where runtime and moderate power output must be balanced within a compact cylindrical-cell assembly.
The M50A provides 5000mAh and 18.0Wh typical capacity, with minimum values of 4800mAh and 17.3Wh. This energy-focused specification supports battery packs where extended runtime is more important than the extreme current capability of lower-capacity power cells, while still offering a useful 15A continuous discharge rating.
Published energy density reaches 704Wh/L volumetrically and 269Wh/kg gravimetrically. Combined with a maximum diameter of 21.55mm, maximum height of 70.15mm and typical weight of 68g, the cylindrical format helps pack engineers build compact series-parallel assemblies with strong energy storage per unit volume and mass.
Molicel specifies 15A continuous discharge for the INR-21700-M50A. The accompanying graph also characterizes constant-current operation at 1A, 2.5A, 5A, 10A and 20A, plus 77W and 95W constant-power profiles at 23°C. Pack current limits still require application-specific electrical and thermal validation.
Standard charging uses a 2.5A, 0.5C CC-CV profile to a 4.20V charge voltage, with a stated standard charging time of 2.6 hours. The datasheet does not specify a higher maximum charge current, so pack and charger development should use the documented standard rate unless Molicel supplies application-specific authorization.
Typical AC impedance is specified at no more than 20mΩ when measured at 1kHz. Controlled impedance helps limit voltage drop and resistive heating under load, although complete pack performance also depends on cell matching, state of charge, temperature, aging, welded interconnect resistance and the electrical design of the busbars.
The cell is specified for charging from 0°C to 45°C and discharging from −30°C to 60°C. Published temperature curves show progressively lower voltage and usable capacity as temperature falls. Cold-condition applications therefore require suitable current derating, voltage thresholds, thermal sensing and validation under the actual pack load profile.
Custom battery pack applications: Following application-specific validation, the Molicel INR-21700-M50A can support light-mobility systems, portable power stations, robotics, industrial equipment and energy-focused backup batteries. MisenBattery supplies cells and supports custom pack integration with a matched BMS, fuse protection, welded interconnects, cell-level voltage and temperature sensing, electrical insulation, controlled spacing, thermal management and mechanical restraint. The cell is a bare industrial component and must not be used as an unprotected standalone battery. Supporting CE, UN38.3, RoHS and UL documentation can be provided when available for the applicable cell, completed battery pack and shipment; the supplied Product Data Sheet does not identify certificate numbers or approval scope.
