The Molicel INR-21700-P45B is a high-power 21700 lithium-ion cell combining 4500mAh typical capacity with a specified 45A continuous discharge capability. It provides 16.2Wh typical energy, low impedance and broad discharge-temperature performance for professionally engineered battery packs. Its balance of energy and power makes it suitable for demanding mobility, power-tool and industrial systems subject to application-specific electrical and thermal validation.
The P45B provides 4500mAh and 16.2Wh typical capacity, with minimum values of 4300mAh and 15.5Wh. This combination gives pack designers meaningful stored energy without sacrificing the high-current capability required by demanding load profiles, helping balance runtime, output power and overall pack size.
Molicel specifies a continuous discharge current of 45A with an 80°C cut-off. The datasheet also presents discharge curves at 10A, 20A, 30A and 45A under 23°C ambient conditions. Pack-level current limits should include suitable thermal margins based on cooling, cell spacing, interconnect resistance and the intended duty cycle.
Published energy density reaches 643Wh/L volumetrically and 242Wh/kg gravimetrically. Combined with a maximum diameter of 21.55mm, maximum height of 70.15mm and maximum weight of 70g, the P45B supports compact series-parallel pack configurations where both energy capacity and high-power output are important.
Standard charging is specified at 4.5A with a standard charge time of approximately 1.5 hours. Maximum charge current reaches 13.5A when a 70°C cut-off is enforced. Charger, BMS and thermal-control settings must be validated together because maximum-rate charging can generate substantial heat and may affect long-term cell performance.
Typical impedance is listed at 7mΩ AC at 30% SOC and 15mΩ DC at 50% SOC. Low impedance helps reduce voltage drop and resistive heat under high-current loads, although actual pack performance also depends on cell matching, welded connections, busbar resistance, state of charge, temperature and aging.
The specified operating range covers charging from 0°C to 60°C and discharging from −40°C to 60°C. Datasheet curves illustrate output across multiple discharge temperatures, but available capacity and voltage decrease in colder conditions. Application validation should therefore include low-temperature load testing, temperature sensing, controlled current and appropriate thermal protection.
Custom battery pack applications: Following application-specific validation, the Molicel INR-21700-P45B can support high-power tool batteries, light-mobility systems, robotics, industrial equipment and performance-oriented portable power packs. MisenBattery supplies cells and supports custom pack integration with a matched BMS, fuse protection, welded interconnects, cell-level voltage and temperature sensing, electrical insulation, controlled spacing, thermal management and mechanical restraint. The cell is a bare industrial component and must not be used as an unprotected standalone battery. Supporting CE, UN38.3, RoHS and UL documentation can be provided when available for the applicable cell, completed battery pack and shipment; the supplied Product Data Sheet does not identify certificate numbers or approval scope.
